Round 1 of JDM AllStars? It was mint lad!!!

Well I rocked up to JDM Allstars on the Friday keen for some early practice; little did I know I would get an hour to myself, which was hella awesome! I drove until I ran out of fuel which was mint!! The Saturday was a chilled day for a bit of practice and car setup as the Manchester track had some lumps and bumps that gave it character that tested cars, but the Driftworks suspension parts loved it!!! Sunday was an early start, the crowds where coming in by the hundred, I had couple practice runs then bam time to qualify.

I qualified second behind fink, so first score to him lol! I had fairly chilled battles until top four, which I lost on a technicality but these things happen... So me verses Mr Fink for 3rd place, Luke had car issues but we still went hard. I ran the course on lock so Luke could run shallow and keep close; we ran 3 “one more time”s as we loved the battles and new the crowd went hypes! I blagged the 3rd place but did not mind lol, it was hella fun!

Round 2 of JDM Allstars....

We had a few weeks to sort little issues with car before the epic debut of the Donington Alpine course!!!! Hypes to say the least! So yeah me and me chum James rocked up Friday late afternoon to set-up and see what the crack was!!! We all had some laughs and had a few drinks, walked the course and were all super keen to get smoking!!! In the excitement and the fun night with the lads I ended up only getting about 5 hours’ kip.

I awoke at ten to 6 with James singing in the shower, man that was scary lol..  So yeah let the action begin, after the politics of briefings and chit chat I put my ass in the car, stare up the start hill... 1st, 2nd screamer pipe screaming; 3rd pulling hard, kick clutch and fly blind round first corner, full throttle through the trees and round lap one! Buzzing, can’t wait to go again! Sitting in the queue I’m thinking of lines, and planning out what I can do from here.

2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th runs just get smoother and faster, and I start to feel cool like I’m doing enough to qualify!!  After a quick change of tyres I then line up for qualifying, but suddenly get a random misfire just as I’m ready to rock! Abort, run, pull into pits, whip out no. 2 coil pack, find a spare, whack it in, job done!!  Got back out to qualifying and qualified 4th so happy with that as I saw some awesome runs by other drivers!!! 

Battle one, against a good chum of mine, I was leading...  I pull out a massive lead, unsure why but grateful as in the swap run, I pull in hard and realise we now need to transition and I’m in the wrong place! Needless to say I maintained my drift whilst rubbing the armco and removing the lead car’s rear bumper! I advanced to top 8 after this, awesome!!

Next battle I draw one of the awesome polish guys, so I lead pull a fast run full of angle and proper lines - he was still with me!!! Oh no he’s fast lol!! Chase time, he runs massive angle I have to match! We are both full throttle but I stick to him; awesome battle but one more time!!! I lead again; he follows just like before. I follow next, he clips tyres on entry to the first corner but keeps going. I follow hard and close in tight in the last corner - too close to call! I advanced through, super happy with that!!

The next battle was with the other polish driver and no 1 qualifier!! He leads and I chase -  I stay close but safe. Next, I lead and go full speed and come out the last corner... can’t see him, he must have spun! I win, YAY onto final!!

After this I watch an awesome battle between Fink and Mr “DW” Phil Morrison!! Phil wins and I’m super happy to draw Phil as I’ve only ever demo skidded with him, never in a battle!!

And so it came down to our run... We pulled up our cars ready to go for it. I sit in the car thinking, I know he’s fast, he’s my main sponsor... what do I do??? We look at each other, nod and say full speed no holding back!!!

He leads, and man the DW S15 is FAST! He clips tyres on 1st entry, I stay close but run a weak line in the last bend,... he must have the advantage! I lead the next run stupid fast, run the wall full angle, full smoke, full fun!!!! Phil is so close, I’m stunned!

The competition was over and we didn’t know who’d won at this stage. It was time to pull the cars in and make our way over to the podium in front of the waiting crowd.

The final positions were announced... Fink 3rd. I’m standing waiting for my name to be called for 2nd - but no! Phil gets called! I stand stunned for a moment, taking it in...  yeah baby I win I win!!!!

The whole day was so much fun and to battle in the final against Phil my DW team mate with an awesome crowd and drivers was just what I needed!!! After this all I can say is JDM AllStars, team Driftworks, friends and families all rock hard!!!!  Peace!!!
